Main Article Content
Abstract
Digital Digital India initiatives, a key mission of the Government of India, motivate teachers to utilize SWAYAM (an online platform) efficiently and effectively for enhancing quality education, training, and capacity among all stakeholders across various education levels under the Ministry of Education. The University Grants Commission (UGC) at the national level and all state governments at the state level are motivating teachers to create and develop Massive Open Online Courses. In higher education, UGC calls for proposals of MOOCs for UG/PG levels and youth skill development through SWAYAM. Educators are being trained, oriented, and exposed for capacity enhancement to equip them to create and develop quality MOOCs in accordance with SWAYAM's guidelines. The aim is to build a reservoir of talented workers in the nation to meet the requirements and expectations of quality education. In this initiative, we need to understand teachers' expectations and challenges, assess their knowledge, skills, and competencies, explore different aspects of the MOOC, and suggest the creation of MOOCs while promoting similar efforts to enhance our teachers' capabilities. This paper examines different facets of MOOCs in general and the SWAYAM MOOC for fostering educational resilience in India. The aim was to enable TEL for sustainable high-quality education and training in the education sector.
