Digital Infrastructure and Effectiveness of E-Learning Platforms in Enhancing Student Academic Performance: A Study of Schools in Dehradun District

Abstract

The integration of technology in education has become a crucial determinant of human capital development in emerging economies like India. Uttarakhand, a hilly state with diverse geographical challenges, has increasingly adopted digital learning tools to improve educational accessibility and outcomes. This study examines the role of technology in school education in Dehradun district, focusing on digital infrastructure and the effectiveness of e-learning platforms on students’ academic performance. A mixed-method approach was adopted, combining primary survey data from selected government and private schools with secondary data from educational reports and ICT initiatives. The findings reveal significant disparities in digital infrastructure across schools, though e-learning platforms have shown a positive impact on academic engagement and learning outcomes. However, challenges such as unequal internet access, lack of trained teachers, and inadequate device availability persist. The study highlights the need for policy intervention to ensure equitable digital transformation in education.
