Main Article Content
Abstract
This comprehensive analysis investigates the intricate relationship between social media use and youth well-being. Through a mixed-methods approach involving surveys and interviews with 120 participants aged 13-18, the study uncovers a nuanced understanding of the effects of social media on youths' lives. While social media offers significant benefits, such as enhancing social connectivity, facilitating access to information, and fostering self-expression and identity exploration, it also presents notable risks to mental health, including anxiety, depression, and cyberbullying. Moreover, excessive social media use is linked to disrupted sleep patterns, reduced physical activity, and addictive behaviors. The study emphasizes the importance of promoting responsible social media use and implementing strategies to mitigate negative impacts while maximizing the benefits. Recommendations include educational initiatives, parental guidance, and support services to empower youths to navigate the digital landscape safely and positively. Further research is warranted to explore longitudinal effects and develop targeted interventions to promote youth well-being in the digital age.
